This set is designed to help you provide your students with a unique, hands-on activity as they learn to read. Children develop reading skills as they mix and match the 40 onsets (beginnings of words) and 240 rimes (ends of words) printed on interlocking Unifix Cubes to make simple one-syllable words. Teaching children to recognize onsets and rimes supports an approach to reading that stresses phonemic awareness and phonics.
This set of cubes includes a variety of simple and complex onsets and rimes, allowing you to tailor the materials to the needs of your students. The 40 onset cubes are white, and the 60 rime cubes are purple. The cubes include a Teacher's Guide with complete suggestions and instructions.
