Sunspotter |
Unlike other ways of viewing the Sun, this wooden, folded-Keplerian telescope is safe and easy to use. By using a series of mirrors, the telescope projects a 3 1/2″ (85 mm) image of the sun onto a white viewing screen that can be easily seen by several students at once. They will be able to trace the changing positions of sunspots and compare them on a daily basis. The kid-friendly telescope is a folded refractor, F11, altitude-azimuth design and can be used to observe eclipses as well. Features: • 27 1/2″ (700 mm) FL objective lens • 2 1/2″ (61.7 mm) objective aperture stopped down to 2 1½4" (57 mm) • 1/2″ (12.5 mm) fully-coated FL Plössl field lens, four element with a 10 mm aperture • 0.75° field of view (1.5 solar diameters) • 2.2 cm gnomon (±30°) and 22 cm pinhole projection (±3°) pointing aids • Overall size: 40.5 x 38 x 15cm • Weight: 6 lbs., 9 1/2 oz.
