Speed of Bubble Tube |
How fast does a bubble travel? Your students can get a solid introduction to graphing and much more with this apparatus.
The tube is filled with either green or red liquid. Students turn the tube over and time how long it takes for the bubble to reach the top. Then they can select specific times (such as 4 seconds) and see how far the bubble travels in that time.
Use the bubble tube as a powerful way to connect a mathematical idea (slope) with a physics concept (velocity). The bubble tube can also be used to illustrate other concepts (e.g, rise time vs. angle, rise time vs. temperature, etc.).
