Quake! Epicenters and Magnitude Kit

Your young geologists will determine the location of an earthquake�s epicenter and its magnitude, using this inquiry-based activity. Greater understanding of quakes is gained through individual exploration. Measurements from seismograms, a time travel curve, and a compass, help students implement a technique called triangulation to locate the epicenter of the quake. Then they find the magnitude according to Richter�s scale. Developed by Science Kit�s Product Development Team. Includes a large map of California (24? x 36?), a pack of 30 student-sized maps, 12 safety compasses, colored pencils, and instructions with teacher�s guide and reproducible student worksheets.
