Protist Swimming Pools: Water Organisms Study Lab (Teacher-Developed, Classroom-Tested)
An excellent way to introduce beginners to microscopy and the study of microlife. Students create silicon gum "swimming pools" on a plastic slide. These pools enable the protists, daphnia, hydra and planaria to be studied under a small area in humane conditions. Using congo red, students stain food to study ingestion and digestion. Kit comes with live coupons for mixed pond culture and paramecium that lets you decide when to order your live materials. Developed by Gertrude Jensen.
