Refraction Bead Bowl Kit (Teacher-Developed, Classroom-Tested) |
Appropriate for Grades 8-10 This hands-on Refraction Bead Bowl Lab Activity, coupled with a teacher demonstration, is a simple yet effective tool for demonstrating the Law of Refraction. After the teacher demonstrates the bead bowl with a laser pointer, students perform the experiment by viewing the bead in the bowl, first through air and then through water. Students can easily see that as the light enters a more dense medium, it moves toward the normal. Developed by science teacher Richard Bobrick. The Refraction Bead Bowl Laboratory includes a student guide as well as a teacher's guide. Some assembly is required. The kit contains enough materials for 15 lab groups.
