Making Magnificent Magma Kit

Extend your students’ understanding of how magma moves within Earth’s crust with this inspired activity. Students construct a gelatin structure into which they inject a simulated magma solution. The simulated magma’s movement allows students to observe the formation of dikes, sills, and perhaps even, an eruption. Developed by Art Kimura.

Includes materials for 10 student groups as well as teacher and student instructions. Grades 9–12.
