This wonderful board game developed by Bob Gang and Janice Johnson deals with the totality and fundamental realities of establishing a viable, sustainable human presence on Mars.
Each student represents a separate commander sent to establish a colony. They must make sure they have enough food, water and oxygen to ensure survival of their group.
The board is an actual geological survey map of Mars based on the latest NASA data. It shows 2/3rds of the Martian surface from 65° N to 65° S - including Olympus Mons, Valles Marineris, and other major sites of interest.
This cool adventure learning game emphasizes the interplay of scientific, technological, social, economic and policy strategies needed for successful human explorations of other worlds, as well as the possibility of failure. Grades 7-11.
