Discover Bats Curriculum |
Developed by Bat Conservation International.
A complete bat curriculum in one box - includes the award winning video "The Secret World of Bats", re-edited and re-mastered with youthful narrators to captivate young audiences. The program has been divided into four 12-minute segments with live action footage of bats from around the world, a cool bat house demonstration, and material that is directly keyed to support the 21 lessons included in the accompanying 228 page book.
Activities are divided into introductory, intermediate and advanced levels. Creative lessons teach bat behavior, habitat, ecology, and conservation in conjunction with the video. Students use essential skills such as reading comprehension, mathematics, written and verbal communication, and more to learn key facts about bats while gaining an appreciation for global conservation concerns. Appendices and additional resources include teacher's answers, bibliography, bats of the US and Canada, Bats and Public Health, and Glossary. The book is three-hole punched for a binder.
Students can also participate in Internet-based learning activities for additional study. Primarily for grades 4 through 8.
