Students build a brine shrimp hatchery of their own design and analyze their effectiveness through hatch rates and by using population sampling techniques. It is up to them to determine the optimal environmental conditions and the most efficient sampling procedure. Using the results of their first attempt, students can then develop a hypothesis that will improve their design. Can also be used with triops or daphnia. Developed by Alan Nakagawa. Includes instructions. Grades 6–12.
