3-D Water Kit |
Invite your students to come play in the water. With the 3D Molecular Designs Magnetic Water Kit©, your students will understand the structure and properties of water, as they never have before.
The 3D Molecular Design Magnetic Water Kit allows students to "see and touch" water in three dimensions. As your students put the 2 oxygen halves together and add the 2 hydrogen atoms, they will create H2O and gain a deeper understanding of what happens when H2O spontaneously assembles. While assembling the molecule, you will also have a chance to explain how the imbedded magnets represent the polar properties of hydrogen and oxygen. Imbedded magnets enable students to "feel" hydrogen and oxygen atoms attract and repel each other. As students explore the 3D water with all their senses they will be able to: See spontaneous bonding, Compare hydrogen bonds to covalent bonds, Make ice crystals, Dissolve salt, Evaporate water, Add non-polar ethane to water, Create ethanol, Explore capillary action, and much, much more. Magnets are permanently imbedded so they won't fall out when atoms are unassembled.
Each 3D Molecular Designs Water Kit© Cup includes 12 water molecules, 1 sodium, 1 chloride, 1 ethane and 1 hydroxyl group. All atoms are magnetized to reflect their positive or negative charges (except non-polar ethane). This 6-Cup Water Kit© includes a CD with Middle School and High School Lesson Plans.
